Battle Footage from Okinawa WW2 – Part 1

Footage from Okinawa

The first 6 minutes of this is about the Army. Kakazu Ridge and Shuri Castle were Army battles. The Marines were on the North end of the island looking for Japs that weren’t there. When Marines came South, they started Sugar Loaf Hill battle, which is where Dad was wounded the first time – I don’t know how far into the battle.

The guy next to him in a fox hole was hit by a mortar fired from behind the hill. Dad got concussion blast. I cut out all the Kamikaze stuff, which hit the Navy really hard on Okinawa and which is what most documentaries about Okinawa cover almost exclusively.
