China plans nature reserve in South China Sea shoal: A pretext for occupation?
China’s coast guard has accused a Philippine ship of ramming one of its vessels, which the Philippines denies. It comes after Beijing’s forces fired powerful water cannon at Philippine ships that Manila says caused damage and injured a crew member. The two nations have been at odds over control of the Scarborough Shoal since 2012, when Beijing’s forces seized the area.
