Denmark says it will summon the US ambassador over the appointment of a new Greenland special envoy and has warned Washington to respect its sovereignty. This comes after US President Donald Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as a special envoy to Greenland.
Posting on social media, Governor Landry thanked President Trump and said it would be an honor to serve in this position and make Greenland a part of the United States. The conflict between Denmark and the US over Greenland has been growing. Trump has repeatedly said the US needs the resource-rich island for security reasons and has refused to rule out the use of force to secure it.
