German Chancellor Merz wants to create Europe’s strongest army
Germany’s newly elected chancellor, Friedrich Merz, called for Berlin to transform its Bundeswehr into the “strongest conventional army in Europe” in his first major speech to parliament. He also promised to turn Germany’s economy once again into an engine for growth.
