Germany’s Evonik REJECTS Europe as a Growth Market. 3,200 Jobs Go.

One of Germany’s biggest chemical groups is cutting 3,200 jobs, more than 2,000 of them at home, and has told the market plainly that Europe is now the less promising place to grow. In the same week 175,000 car workers walked out across 280 sites, Brussels put an emergency energy meeting on the table as petrol passed 2 euro a litre in eight member states, and the Commission went hunting for new EU-wide taxes to close its own budget gap.
