In this episode, Across The Balkans looks at the death of the war criminal Ratko Mladic. Has his death healed Bosnia’s wounds or torn them open again? While survivors remember the victims, some Serbs still commemorate Ratko Mladic as a hero.
Edward P Joseph, a Balkans foreign policy specialist who coordinated the evacuation of the UN-designated safe area of Zepa and negotiated directly with Ratko Mladic during the 1995 Bosnian war and Nevenka Tromp, a former Hague investigator and lecturer in East European Studies at the University of Amsterdam join the programme and present the facts about the ‘Greater Serbian’ ideology and the atrocities committed by Ratko Mladic.
Across The Balkans, hosted by Nadja Muftic, is TRT World’s programme focusing on the issues and fault lines shaping Southeast Europe today.
