‘One Minute and 15 Seconds of Batteries’ before we ‘Run Out’ Globally October 29, 2022 Unipro2013main Geo Politics, Politics, World News, World Politics - Geopolitics </p> <h2>One minute and 15 seconds of Global Electricity Consumption</h2> <p> Copenhagen Consensus Centre President Bjorn Lomborg says the world has enough batteries to “cover one minute and 15 seconds of global electricity consumption”.</p> <p>“Fundamentally, we’re not going to go renewable or full-renewable any time soon,” Mr Lomborg told Sky News host Chris Kenny.</p> <p>Mr Lomborg said it’s “great” to have solar if you are in California – however, “you can’t rely on solar or wind because they’re fundamentally unreliable”.</p> <p>“And so, you need backup,” he said.</p> <p>Mr Lomborg added people have an “absurd idea” that “we can just go to batteries” for backup.</p> <p>“Batteries are not anytime soon going to be able to pick up most of the slack.
