New images and reports have emerged from the dramatic US seizure of the Russian-flagged oil tanker ‘Marinera’ (formerly ‘Bella 1’) in the North Atlantic, a high-stakes operation by American forces after a weeks-long pursuit.
US military and Coast Guard teams boarded the sanctioned vessel under a federal warrant for violating sanctions linked to Venezuela and Iran, with MH-6 Little Bird helicopters and special operations units involved in the interdiction. Britain provided “enabling support,” including RAF surveillance and naval assistance, though no British forces took part in the boarding itself.
