Sudanese Canadians fear for loved ones’ safety as processing lags for refugee applications

Sudan’s top general has rejected a ceasefire proposal put forward by U.S.-led mediators, calling it unacceptable and the “worst yet.” This rejection is a setback for efforts to end the devastating war that has plagued the African nation for over 30 months.
Earlier this year, the Canadian government announced plans to bring thousands of Sudanese refugees to Canada.
However, as Jeff Semple reports, Sudanese Canadians are expressing fears that their loved ones are dying while waiting for their applications to be processed.
