Shelagh Fogarty speaks to the News Agents co-host Lewis Goodall about Trump’s latest threat, vowing the ‘death of an entire civilisation’ in Iran.
In a social media post from today, the President said a ‘whole civilisation will die tonight’, if ‘regime change’ is not enacted.
The threat comes hours after Kharg Island was reportedly hit by a series of strikes, Iranian state media reported on Tuesday, with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard issuing a warning to regional neighbours.
Over the Easter Weekend, Trump set a deadline of Tuesday 8pm for Tehran to end its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, or be bombed ‘back to the stone ages’.
Lewis Goodall tells Shelagh this threat is ‘worse than Hiroshima’, and if Trump follows through, the damage will be ‘apocalyptic’.
Talking about Trump’s aim with the war, Lewis thinks the President ‘thought it would be over now’ and as a result, has ‘backed himself into a corner.’
