New York Attorney General Letitia James, known for leading the civil fraud case against Donald Trump and securing an initial $454 million judgment against him, has now been indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia for alleged bank fraud.
Prosecutors claim she misled a bank when buying a Virginia property in 2020 by saying it would be her residence rather than an investment, saving about $19,000 in mortgage costs.
James, a Democrat and longtime Trump critic, says the charges are politically motivated and part of Trump’s effort to punish his opponents after regaining power.
