The Trump administration has announced the United States will withdraw from 66 international organisations, marking one of the most dramatic rollbacks of global cooperation in modern history. The exits include UN-linked bodies as well as non-UN organisations, among them the India-led International Solar Alliance and the Colombo Peace Plan.
The White House and State Department say the organisations are wasteful, mismanaged, and driven by “woke” agendas that undermine U.S. sovereignty. Critics warn the move weakens multilateral diplomacy, disrupts humanitarian and climate efforts, and could accelerate global fragmentation. Officials insist Washington will now engage selectively, prioritising U.S. interests and strategic competition with China. Watch
