U.S. President Donald Trump threatens to impose additional tariffs on the European Union following a fine levied against American tech giant Google under the Digital Services Act. James Batchik,Deputy Director for EU Programs and Operations at the Atlantic Council explains the politics behind this from both the EU’s and Donald Trump’s points of view. The fine itself is not a huge sum compared to Google’s or its parent company Alphabet’s revenues, but it is one of the first for Google and one of the largest under the new Digital Markets Act.
