While the memorandum of understanding (MOU) does contain some of the federal concessions Alberta’s oil and gas industry has long been calling for, there are a lot of contingencies – not the least of which will be getting indigenous opponents onside.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm in Calgary, with industry leaders hopeful for renewed investment after nearly a decade of stagnation.
