A lot of multicultural communities have come to Australia because they were persecuted for their beliefs, says Liberal Senator Paul Scarr. “I’m conducting three Australian citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day … and many of those people becoming Australian citizens would have come to this country because they were fleeing religious persecution,” Mr Scarr told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.
